worked first time for me! love it May 10, 2002 24 out of 26 found this review helpful
I'd ordered the card through Amazon even after reading the previous negative comments from a couple of people regarding instability issues.I'm running Windows XP Pro, and after installing the card this morning everything's been running as smoothly as before... except now I have USB 2.0 !!!! :) Installation was a simple as popping off the pc's cover, slotting in the card to a free slot and powering up. Windows picked up the card and added it in. Opened Internet Explorer, went to tools->windows update, picked up the latest USB driver from Microsoft, one more reboot later I'm up and running. The 5 external USB ports (plus funky red led's ;) and 1 internal port together with the ease of installation and auto detection with XP means I can't fault the card. 5 stars.
Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 5-Port PCI Card July 27, 2006 I. M. Green (St. Merryn, Cornwall) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I guess I am one of the lucky one's. No problems at all installing. I whipped the old USB 1.1 card out, sucked out the dust, and popped in the new Belkin USB 2.0, together with a new Sitecom USB 2.0 4 port front hub, switched on and 'bingo' Windows XP Home found both items right away. I then re-connected the USB's cables from HP printer, Epson scanner, and Pipex modem. Windows XP did its stuff again and I'm back in business.
Excellent - Worked first time April 8, 2006 ArgusDT (Nottingham United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It took less than 10 minutes to install and to be up and running again. XP detected it and installed it with no problems. The time taken to backup my hard drive to a WD USB 2.0 external drive with Norton Ghost has almost halved from 7 hours with USB 1.1 to just under 4 hours. Well worth the money.
How Easy can it be? January 19, 2003 Mike Howell 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
This has to be the easiest thing i have ever had to install. I just open up the machine slotted in the card, and than run the instructions to install the Hub. The instruction given were extremely precise and clear, and for the people that need it, every menu or option was instructed on how the user should proceed. Installed and Rebooted. That was it! All hubs worked absolutely fine, and it must have taken me only 10 minutes to install.I am running Win98SE and this product works absolutely perfect. 5 Stars from me.
Worked fine for me in a 6-year old motherboard February 6, 2005 9 out of 14 found this review helpful
I installed this in a motherboard I bought in 1998. And I had problems with the PC not booting. But after a lot of fiddling about and searching the web I discovered it wasn't this card - it was the motherboard. My motherboard (ABIT BH6) has 5 PCI slots, but actually two slots share the same bus master line. Plugging bus-mastering cards into both these slots doesn't work (and isn't supposed to, apparently). Unfortunately this card made 5 bus-mastering PCI cards, so I had to take something else out. With only four PCI cards, worked perfectly, no problems at all. Unfortunately, I need those other 4 PCI cards more than I need a USB2 port...
