| Customer Reviews: Good value, small, neatly made October 21, 2004 A. Butterfield (UK) 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
This sort of thing generally either works or it doesn't, so there's not much the manufacturer can do to make theirs stand out from the crowd. This one from Belkin goes for the discreet look, but it's small and very neatly (and not cheaply) made. It has different coloured LEDs to show you what's working and at what speed, which is novel. There's an average length lead on the thing, in case you want to stretch it around the back of your desk. The power supply is useful (it's a very heavy one) for power hungry devices, but you don't have to use it. And it's a reasonable price.

This hub works faultlessly unlike others I have tried. It is well constructed and comes with a power supply - don't let anyone kid you that a power supply isn't necessary with USB 2.0 hubs supporting several devices. Also, a neat feature is that if you buy a second of these hubs it will slot on top of this one. Finally, the package is topped off by LEDs that light up in either red, amber or green according to the speed of the device connected to the port. If you want a hub that works this is unreservedly recommended - buy it (especially at this price).

May be obvious, but I thought I would let the world know that this has worked perfectly with my G4 osx 10.3 Mac.

Put simply it does what it says on the cover. Being plug and play (Windows XP) no problems where encountered using the hub. All ports advise as to whether connected equipment's speed is Low/Full/High Speed. One area that needs improving is the small supplied manual. When do you need to use the supplied AC adapter? The Installation manual states plug in the AC adapter etc. Whilst a note states the hub may be used without the power supply. On questioning Belkin Support the answer received boiled down to... If using only a couple of low power pieces of equipment, you don't need the power supply, else you do. Mind you how you find out if the equipment your connecting does require a high level of power wasn't really stated!
